Dear Readers,
Today is the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor bombings. There is a lot of controversy about whether or not to "celebrate" this day in light of the U.S. actions that ended World War II; however, I do not believe that remembering those lost to armed conflict is in and of itself "celebrating" - nor do I believe such losses are something to celebrate, regardless of who has fallen or on which side of the U.S. border they lived.
I ask that for a moment, you pause to remember not the cause of the attack on Pearl Harbor nor the retaliatory military actions taken by the United States, but the memory of those who died on December 7, 1941. May remembering that human lives were lost help us to remember to pause in our anger towards others and work towards non-violent solutions.
